21021. श्रम और कृषि में सुधार के बाद मोदी सरकार अब बैंकिंग सुधारों पर लेगी कड़े फैसले
- आरबीआइ के आंतरिक कार्यदल ने बैंकों के होल्डिंग पैटर्न (मालिकाना हक संबंधी हिस्सेदारी) में बदलाव को लेकर जो सिफारिशें की हैं वे केंद्र सरकार के वृहत बैंकिंग सुधार का ही हिस्सा हैं।
- देश की बढ़ती इकोनॉमी के हिसाब से विशाल आकार के बैंक स्थापित करने के लिए सरकार की कोशिशों को आरबीआइ कार्यदल के सुझावों से मदद मिलेगी। इसके आधार पर सरकार सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के कुछ बैंकों के निजीकरण को लेकर भी आगे बढ़ सकती है।
- भारत में बड़े और व्यापक पूंजी आधार वाले बैंकों की जरूरत पर खास तौर पर जोर दिया गया है। भारत के बड़े औद्योगिक घरानों को भी बैंकिंग सेक्टर में उतरने में ज्यादा आजादी मिलनी चाहिए।

- A working group set up by the Reserve Bank, the regulator, has suggestions for what to do with ownership of private-sector banks. Large industrial houses may be permitted to own controlling stakes, it says, but only after strengthening regulation and supervision to deal with the problem of “connected lending” — basically diverting depositors’ funds to their other businesses.
- From the conditional nature of the recommendation, it doesn’t appear that the regulator will soon reverse its policy of keeping conglomerates away from banking. But the report could pave the way for backdoor entry.

21023. India likely to report current account surplus for current fiscal year - adviser
- India is likely to report a current account surplus at the end of the current financial year ending in March 2021, mainly led by a fall in imports, the chief economic adviser at the ministry of finance said on Monday.
- India’s current account surplus rose to a record $19.8 billion in April-June as its trade deficit narrowed sharply, the Reserve Bank of India said earlier.
- Demand for imports has fallen amid the COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with recent economic reforms initiated by the government to boost manufacturing, Krishnamurthy Subramanian told a virtual conference organised by Confederation of Indian Industry

21024. Long-term impact of agricultural reforms: Rs 80,000-1,00,000 crore private investment, lakhs of jobs possible
- The government’s agriculture reforms can potentially attract private investment of Rs 80,000-1,00,000 crore, and create employment for 15-20 lakh people.
- About Rs 93,000 crore is wasted every year due to poor storage and transport infrastructure. Private sector involvement can reduce this wastage significantly.
- The reforms will trigger consolidation and integration of the agricultural value chain where there will be tighter coupling between market requirements and the quality and quantity of production by farmers.
21025. Ujala Yojna: उज्जवला योजना के बाद सरकार अब शुरू करेगी ग्रामीण उजाला योजना, सिर्फ 10 रुपये में मिलेगा में LED बल्ब
- ग्रामीण इलाकों में उज्जवला योजना की अपार सफलता के बाद सरकार अब गावों में उजाला योजना शुरू करने जा रही है.
- उज्जवला योजना की अपार सफलता के बाद सरकार अगले महीने से पीएम मोदी संसदीय क्षेत्र वाराणसी समेत देश के पांच बड़े शहरों के ग्रामीण इलाकों से ग्रामीण उजाला योजना की शुरुआत करने जा रही है. यह योजना सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र की एनर्जी एफिशिएंसी सर्विसेज लि (ईईएसएल) शुरू करेगी
- इसके तहत गांवों में हर एक परिवार को 10 रुपये प्रति बल्ब की दर से तीन से चार एलईडी बल्ब बांटे जाएंगे.

21026. Jio buys 4G spectrum worth Rs 57,122 crore; says readying for imminent 5G rollout
- Reliance Jio (Jio) has acquired spectrum in 22 circles across India in the 800 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2300 MHz bands for Rs 5,77,123 crore, thereby becoming the largest buyer of airwaves in the just concluded spectrum auction.
- Jio said that its total owned spectrum footprint has increased significantly, by 55%, to 1,717 MHz (uplink+ downlink). It now has the highest amount of sub-GHz spectrum with 2X10 MHz contiguous spectrum in most circles.
- The telco also has at least 2X10 MHz in 1800 MHz band and 40 MHz in 2300 MHz band in each of the 22 circles.

21027. Indore: Indian Institute of Technology Indore to share expertise, experience with Indore Municipal Corporation
- The IIT Indore has entered into a emorandum of understanding with Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) for a period of five years.
- This is to establish a framework for understanding and synergy through cooperation and to collaborate on capacity building of municipal staff.
- As part of agreement, the IIT will provide support in research and study in existing technology, identifying new technology and innovation to control air pollution and increase air quality index of the city.

21028. WayCool Foods partners with National Design and Research Forum for sustainable agriculture
- CHENNAI: Food supply chain startup WayCool Foods has signed a three-year MoU with National Design and Research Forum (NDRF) to re-imagine the agri-supply chain with innovative tech solutions that can enhance efficiency and reduce food wastage.
- The MoU was signed and exchanged between Karthik Jayaraman, CEO, WayCool Foods, and Mylswamy Annadurai, chairman, NDRF, who was the programme director of Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan.
- Ranging from R&D for better soil health measurement, use of bio nutrients for crops, use of satellite data and drones for real-time information to farmers, and automation of supply chain, the partnership aims at improving incomes of farmers with an integrated plan for the entire soil to sale process.
21029. BHEL lights up boiler at 800 megawatt North Chennai Thermal Power Station
- Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) on Friday lit up the boiler at its North Chennai Thermal Power Station (NCTPS) in Tamil Nadu.
- "BHEL conducted the Boiler light-up of 1 x 800 MW NCTPS Stage III in the presence of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Sh. Edappadi K. Palaniswami," the company said in a statement.
- The NCTPS stage III project, is the highest rating thermal power project, and the first supercritical project to undergo boiler light-up in Tamil Nadu, the company said.

21030. Road transport min inks pact with DRDO
- The road transport and highways ministry has inked a pact with DRDO to utilise its expertise in providing sustainable measures to mitigate landslide and avalanche hazards on the national highways.
- Union minister Nitin Gadkari said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Ministry of RTH (Road Transport and Highways) and DRDO on January 20.
- The pact is intended at utilising the expertise of DRDO in providing sustainable landslide, avalanches and other geo-hazard mitigation measures on the national highways, the minister of Road Transport, Highways and MSMEs said.
